Trainer position in Levin (part-time)

We are looking for a new Trainer in Levin!

We are expanding our work in Levin and are seeking a Trainer who is passionate about empowering former refugees to thrive in work, education, and life in Aotearoa.

About the role

This is a meaningful opportunity to deliver culturally responsive, community‑led training that supports former refugees to build confidence, skills, and knowledge for employment and wellbeing.

You will design and deliver practical workshops, provide one‑to‑one coaching, and work closely with community leaders, employers, education providers, and CRF’s Work Brokers. Your training will help participants understand workplace expectations, develop digital and communication skills, prepare CVs and job applications, and navigate the practical realities of entering work or study.

This role is part-time role (0.5 FTE), on a fixed‑term contract from November 2026 – June 2028.

This role can be combined with our Work Broker position in Levin, for a total of 1 FTE.

What you’ll be doing

  • Designing community‑led training programmes shaped by consultation with refugee‑background communities

  • Co‑creating content with community leaders, CRF staff, and partner organisations

  • Developing accessible learning materials for people with diverse languages, literacy levels, and learning styles

  • Facilitating practical workshops on employment readiness, workplace culture, communication, digital literacy, and life skills

  • Delivering training in community settings including hubs, homes, and partner organisations

  • Using trauma‑informed, strengths‑based approaches that recognise participants’ resilience and lived experience

  • Providing one‑to‑one coaching on CVs, interviews, goal setting, and career pathways

  • Supporting learners to overcome barriers such as English levels, transport, childcare, or unrecognised qualifications

  • Connecting participants with education providers, volunteering opportunities, and employment pathways

  • Working alongside Work Brokers, community navigators, case managers, and education providers to ensure wrap‑around support

  • Tracking learner progress and contributing to reporting for funders and stakeholders

Who you are

You may come from adult education, community development, employment training, social services, or another role where you’ve supported people to learn, grow, and achieve their goals.

You will bring:

  • Experience and/or relevant qualifications in adult education, facilitation, coaching, or community work
  • Cultural humility and the ability to work respectfully across diverse cultures, languages, faiths, and community norms
  • Understanding of trauma‑informed and strengths‑based practice
  • Strong communication, relationship‑building, and advocacy skills
  • Confidence designing inclusive, accessible learning materials
  • Competence with digital tools and online learning platforms
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage time effectively
  • A full NZ driver licence
  • Relevant qualifications in adult education, social services, or community work (desirable)

People from refugee backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply.

Why this role matters
