This week is national volunteer week; a week when we make an extra effort to show appreciation to the people that volunteer with us across many areas, to support our work.
We have a large number of people volunteering on our Wellington-based driving programmes; people who have shown leadership and eventually started running our ongoing sports activities voluntarily; people who voluntarily support us with delivering food to communities who have COVID; a person who got himself trained to teach people to swim and now teachers swimming to men as a volunteer; so many people who translate voluntarily; Catholic Social Services volunteers who work alongside us on the Befriender programme; the CRF board which is largely volunteer; and of course those members of our member communities who are nominated as their group leaders and work tirelessly, for many hours, on a volunteer basis for their community and alongside us.
The hours that the volunteers we work alongside cannot be counted and are extremely valuable. There is so much work carried out by CRF that could not be done without volunteer contribution. And, our high level strategy planning is carried out completely by volunteers, so we wouldn’t know what we need to do, or where the gaps are without these volunteers.
So…we do send a huge shout-out to all of you who volunteer. The immense and generous contribution you are making is changing lives for the better through facilitating integration and participation. Thank you, thank you, thank you
