World Refugee Day 2020

This year we celebrate World Refugee Day with the launch of The Open Arms of Aroha; two short films in which Kiwis from refugee backgrounds share from the heart their hopes and challenges settling into Aotearoa.

This is a collaboration between ChangeMakers and Voice of Aroha, an inclusive platform for different perspectives on Access Radio.

Given that we are in a time of uncertainty and unrest in the world, the messages of these young New Zealanders are more important than ever.

We will release the two short films through the week and celebrate together on Sunday 22 June, 2-4pm, at Mt Cook School, 160 Tory St, Wellington. We warmly invite everyone to come along!

In the first film, The Open Arms of Aroha #Part 1 below (4 mins 19 secs) the seven members of Voice of Aroha share their experiences of the challenges of finding a place for themselves in Aotearoa.

Spoken from the heart ….more courageous conversations in #Part 2 of The Open Arms of Aroha. It takes vulnerability and courage to express these hopes and desires for a more inclusive Aotearoa.

Watch, listen and if these narratives touch your heart, stand up and speak out for more inclusivity.

ChangeMakers is proud to collaborate with @voiceofAroha in bringing you The Open Arms of Aroha.
