New Zealanders from refugee backgrounds participating fully in New Zealand life
Community Huis (Forums)
Community huis (forums) act as ChangeMakers' primary means of communication with refugee-background communities. They are held every 8 weeks to ensure we respond to the needs of communities and provide support in the resettlement process.
Focussing on strengths and collaboration, our community forums provide a space to inform communities about programmes being offered by service providers, and gives them the opportunity to directly address and discuss questions and concerns.
Forums also provide a space for refugee-background communities to make connections amongst themselves and share ideas, projects, and concerns with each other.
Our Board is governed by people from refugee backgrounds who represent the interests of former refugees generally rather then their communities specifically. We also have 20% representation from other communities.
