Invitation to Community Forum

We would like to invite all community members to a Community Forum with Department of Labour officials.

The Forum will be held on:

PLACE: Ground floor, MSC building (39 Webb St, Wellington)

The topic for the Forum is the new Refugee Resettlement Strategy.  It could mean big changes to refugee resettlement in NZ.

Fit for Funding Forum- free information and advice

Fit for Funding Forum provides practical advice about funding. It is for anyone who has to raise money for their organisation.

It is a half-day forum with funding specialists who will share their knowledge and experiences.There will be workshops on specific topics. And there will be chance to meet face to face with people from funding agencies.

These funding agencies will be at the Forum:

World Refugee Day

Celebrate World Refugee Day 2010, Sunday, 20 June at Newtown Park

You are invited to come along and celebrate this Sunday.  There will be a cultural procession, two fantastic football matches, traditional music and dance, delicious food cooked by refugee-background communities, and a tree planting with Rotary Club of Wellington at Mt Albert Park.

Work and Income Information Session

Find out about Work and Income benefits
3 June 2010, 3.30-5pm

This meeting will be held at MultiCultural Services Centre (MSC) on Level 1, 39 Webb St, Wellington.

It is for people who want to find out more about how the benefit system works. ChangeMakers Refugee Forum and Work and Income have organised this meeting together.

The session will provide information for Work and Income clients and agencies that work with former refugees about:

Find out about driving in New Zealand at this free seminar.  It's organised by the Hutt City Council and covers basic information about the driving laws.

  • How to get a NZ driver’s licence
  • Drink drive laws
  • Give way rules and roundabouts

Marae visit

On Tuesday 20 April former refugees and new migrants are invited to Waiwhetu Marae. 

This is a great opportunity to learn about Maori history and culture. You need to register in advance as there is room for a limited number of people only.
